I do so enjoy things that go bump in the night . . . there are so many "what ifs" one can choose from. That innocent sound you hear could be a tree limb scratching upon the window . . . and the soft rustling in the trees could be the wind. It could be. Or is it fingernails clawing for an entrance as someone in the shadows moves deeper into concealment . . . perhaps 'tis someone's pet, trying to gain entrance -- trying to find safety, from whatever is out there.
